New fare adjustments for public transport in Ireland effective from 23rd June 2024

Public transport on Dublin's College Green

The first phase of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) 2024 fare adjustments for Public Service Obligation (PSO) services is set to take effect from Sunday, 23rd June, 2024. These changes aim to maintain affordability while adjusting specific fares to ensure consistency and fairness across the public transport network.

The popular TFI 90-minute fare of €2, introduced in 2022, will remain unchanged. This fare allows TFI Leap Card users to transfer for free between Dublin Bus, Luas, most DART commuter rail, and Go-Ahead Ireland services in Dublin.

For Luas and Dublin Bus, short journey fares for TFI Leap Card users will increase from €1.30 to €1.50, while cash fares will rise from €1.70 to €2. Similar adjustments will apply to Irish Rail services starting 24th June, 2024..

A new flat fare of €1.50 for Leap Card users will be introduced for regional town bus services in Athlone, Balbriggan, Carlow, Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, and Sligo. The cash fare for these services will be €2.

Additionally, some cash period tickets for Luas and Rail services in Dublin will be discontinued.
