Public transport in Dublin during Christmas 2024
During Christmas 2024, Dublin’s public transport operators are operating a special holiday timetable. You’ll find full details regarding train, tram and bus services over the Christmas period below — but as always it’s advisable to use a journey planner before travelling to ensure you are getting the most up to date travel information for your trip.
Trains (DART and Commuter)
In the run-up to Christmas, some late-night DART and commuter services will be available up til 2am on certain routes on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5th December to 21st December. You can check your route here.
On Christmas Eve, DART and Commuter services will finish at 9pm.
The Phoenix Park Tunnel Commuter route (Grand Canal Dock/Hazelhatch and Newbridge) will run a reduced service until approximately 7.45pm.
No services are available on Christmas Day or St Stephen’s Day (Boxing Day).
There will be no trains between Dublin Connolly and Grand Canal Dock from Friday 27th December 2024 to Sunday 5th January 2025. During this period, northside DART services will operate between Dublin Connolly and Howth/Malahide only; and southside DART services will run betweenGrand Canal Dock and Bray/Greystones only.
On Friday, 27th December, DART and Commuter trains will operate to a Saturday schedule.
On New Year’s Eve, late night services are available with trains available up til 3am on certain routes. Further information is available here.

Trams (Luas)
Night Luas trams will operate late into the early hours on the Red and Green Lines on Friday, 13th December; Saturday, 14th December; Friday, 20th December; and Saturday, 21st December. These services will run in both directions, stopping at all stations on the Red and Green Lines. However, the final Night Luas trams will travel westbound only from The Point stop on the Red Line and southbound only from Broombridge on the Green Line.
On Christmas Eve, services will finish at 8pm.
No services are available on Christmas Day.
On 26th December, Luas trams will operate to a Sunday schedule.
Saturday schedules will be in operation on Friday 27 December, Saturday 28 December and Monday 30 December; with a Sunday schedule in place on Sunday 29th December.
On New Year’s Eve, Luas services will run to a Saturday schedule, with late-night trams also available
On New Year’s Day, Luas services will operate to a Sunday schedule.
Normal services and schedules resume from Thursday, 2nd January 2025.

Buses
A full Nitelink service will operate on the following dates: Thursday 12th, Friday 13th, Saturday 14th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th, Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd, Monday 23rd, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, Monday 30th, and Tuesday 31st December 2024.
On Christmas Eve, last services will depart at approximately 9pm.
There will be no buses available on 25th December.
A Sunday timetable will operate on all routes on 26th December.
On New Year’s Eve, a Saturday service will run on all Dublin Bus routes, with some offering additional early morning departures. A full Nitelink service will also be in operation.
